How does REVODESIGN STUDIOS differ from a typical Architecture or Interior Design firm?

While we are architects, we contrast with typical Architecture or Interior Design firms in several ways. Firstly, we actually help build what we design. A typical design firm only handles the design of a project, and leaves all the building to others. Sadly, this limits their understanding of real costs and timelines of the things they design, and sometimes steers a typical design towards less interesting but simpler solutions that may not really meet their client’s needs. Because we help build the project, it gives us more flexibility, lets us be more creative, gives us more control over risk and cost, and lets us deliver like no other architecture or interiors firm can.

How does REVODESIGN STUDIOS differ from a typical construction firm or Contractor?

A typical Contractor usually only handles the construction of the project. A contractor won’t want to take on the risk of doing something more creative, as that can create unknown challenges and difficult to bid. Most Contractors also don’t have access to the technology we do, making it expensive and difficult for them to build anything custom and complex. While we’re not contractors, we work very well with them when they are needed for a project, enabling them to deliver much more than they typically could before.

How long does the design process take?

Depending on the job, scope of work, and the clients (availability to meet, ability to make decisions etc.), the design process will differ from project to project. On average the design process will take 3-4 months. Within this 3-4 months time period:

  • We meet with our clients for a consultation
  • Design contract is signed
  • Existing drawings and proposed drawings are done up
  • Preliminary finishes are selected
  • Drawings are sent out for tender

What is involved in the design process?

The Design Process can be complex. A rough layout of what to expect is below:

  • First consultation; gather a scope of work; draft layout with our software; send proposed layouts to client; requested amendments made; preliminary finish selections are chosen; inspiration images are included to support design ideas

What are the advantages to hiring a design/build team?

We wouldn’t want it any other way and our clients quickly come to feel this way as well!

  • Cost Savings: Compared to hiring independent firms, a design build team shares administration costs, project management costs, & more. In addition, as designers working alongside our contracting team every day, we design with an eye towards construction considerations.
  • Efficient Timeline: From design & conception to construction & production, we take the project from start to finish. The design & construction are performed by a single team, under one contract. A renovation or build involves managing numerous timelines & trades that need to coordinate in lockstep. Our design/build team coordinates all these timelines & trades together. This decreases the chance for details to fall through the cracks & allows for the schedule to run continuously & smoothly.
  • Accountability: When the same group that designs the space also builds the project, there tends to be much more attention given to pricing & scheduling. This can take place as early as the design phase & continues throughout the entire renovation. At Revodesign Studios we design alongside our framers, plumbers, & electricians to ensure accurate pricing & confirm feasibility of construction.
  • Collaboration: We operate under the assumption that our clients WANT to be involved in the process & decision making. There’s a certain pride that we as designers & builders experience from each renovation. We want our clients to feel the same pride about their space when it is completed.
  • Communication: Construction & renovations can be overwhelming & stressful, but we strive to make all projects a fun & enjoyable experience. We want our clients to understand the process & know what’s going on. Our design/build team believes communication works best when it is open & often!

How much will it cost?

The cost our our services is always worth the designs we deliver. Revodesign does not have a fixed cost plan for interior design service contracts. We can develop a programme to meet any client budget. At every stage we’ll ensure that your money is spent in the most effective ways and delivers the best value. Once we know your specific needs, we can offer you an extremely quick synopsis of the anticipated costs. We also provide material cost schedules upon clients’ request.

How long will it take?

The project completion time depends on scope of work and other consultants on site varying with the size and nature of projects.Being fully operational with no downtime is crucial. We deliver all of our projects on time and have a wealth of experience in working on projects of all shapes, sizes, and levels of complexity. Once we’ve established the size and scale of the project we can very quickly make an assessment regarding timescales. According to your requirements, project programmes can often be accelerated, however we will always recommend what is realistic and achievable.
